Concordia senior kenneth pointer scored a game-high 23 points to lead the bears to a 72-62 win over bemidji state in the nsic opener at the gangelhoff center. With the win, the bears move to 11-2 (1-0 nsic) on the year.

bemidji state jumped out the an early 6-0 lead in the first three minutes, but the bears erased the beavers lead and tied the game at 9-9 with 12:21 to play in the first half on a layup by senior aaron ackerson. After trading a pair of baskets, the bears took the lead at 16-13 on a three-pointer by senior kyle marxhausen (right) and the bears would lead for the remainder of the contest. They took a 33-25 lead into the half and led by as many as 15 in the second at 65-50 with 4:42 to play.

pointer finished the night making 6-13 from the field and 8-10 from the free throw line. Senior ty thomas finished with 15 points, five rebounds and three blocks. Marxhausen just missed a double-double finishing with ten points and nine rebounds.

as a team, the bears shot 41.8% (23-55) from the field, but only 59.4 (19-32) from the free throw line. They were outrebounded 44-39. The beavers finished the night shooting .400 (26-65) from the field and 9-18 (.500) from the free throw line.
