the msu moorhead dragons made 36 of 49 free throws in defeating concordia 88-80 in nsic action at the gangelhoff center on friday. nakia carlisle led concordia with 27 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals in the game.

the bears took a 40-35 lead into the halftime intermission, but the dragons opened the second half on a 20-8 run to take the lead at 55-48 with 15:03 to play. Concordia would tie the game at 63-63 on a free throw by ashley smith at 6:42.

the dragons would extend the lead to as many as ten in the remaining six minutes. Concordia coach paul fessler would be ejected from the game with 1:35 to play after receiving his second technical of the game.

janine kuklis added 11 points and four rebounds and smith would finish with ten points.

msu moorhead was led by katie walden with 23 points and lindsey anderson and allison swenson each had 20. Swenson also had a game-high 11 rebounds.

the bears converted 27-65 (41.5 %) from the field and 21-30 (70%) from the free throw line, while msu moorhead shot 24-58 (41.4%) and 36-49 (73.5%) from the free throw line. Msum outrebounded cu 44-38.

concordia falls to 11-6 (3-2 nsic), while msu moorhead improves to 9-7 (4-1 nsic). The bears will be in action again on saturday, jan. 21 as northern state comes to the gangelhoff. The wolves defeated winona state 67-41 friday night.
