Concordia (0-3) was defeated 6-2 by former Northern Sun rival Minnesota Duluth (3-0) Tuesday evening at Griffin Stadium in St. Paul, Minn. UMD's Abbey Bollig netted the first two goals as the Bulldogs beat the Bears.
Bollig's first goal came in the ninth minute, putting UMD up early. But the damage was done in the middle of the first half, when the Bulldogs put up three goals in less than five minutes. Bollig's second goal came in the 23rd minute, just 46 seconds before Bridget Larson's goal. Sarah Noonan made it 4-0 in the 28th minute, putting CU in a deep hole.
Lyndsey Hartleben scored in the 37th minute, assisted by
Whitney Pitra and
Ashley Gonsior as the Bears went into halftime trailing by three.
The Bulldogs extended their lead to 6-1 with goals from Pam Lensing (50:52) and Danielle Scheuer (72:35).
Hillary Johnson made it 6-2 at the 74:09 mark from
Rachel Vitense and
Sam Voeller.
Concordia will host Upper Iowa at Griffin Stadium on Thursday, Sept. 1 at 7 p.m.
