On Senior Day at Dunning Field, Allison Paitich pitched a four-hit shutout, and Kristin Schmidt drove in three runs in leading the Bears to a 4-0 win over Hamline.
The Bears got on the board in the third inning when Kristin Schmidt drove a ball to the gap in left-center, scoring Amanda Yurek from first base.
In the sixth inning, Jennifer Pozzani led off the inning with a bunt single and advanced to second on an error by Hamline's pitcher. Shannon Miller followed with a single to left field (Vanessa Dufresne pinch ran for Miller), advancing Pozzani to third. Elizabeth Plante flied out to right field, but it was deep enough to score Pozzani. Yurek got on base on an error by the center fielder, and Schmidt drove her second double to left-center to score both Dufresne and Yurek.
For the game, the Bears had only five hits. Paitich pitched seven solid innings, allowing four hits and striking out four with no walks.
The Bears will open the NSIC Tournament on Friday at 10:00 when they host Bemidji State at Dunning Field.
