Concordia rallied from a 11-point deficit in the 2nd half to cut the lead to two late, but Northern State hit their free throws and defeated the Bears 71-68 Friday night.

Justin Vandenberg led the way for Concordia with 19 points and five rebounds. Brian Jamros finished with 14 points and five rebounds, and Kenneth Pointer made his first start of the season and made his presence felt with a dunk over 7'0" Bjoern Schoo of Northern State. He ended the game with 11 points and a team-high eight rebounds. Kyle Marxhausen had a tough night shooting (1-8), but he helped with seven assists and five rebounds.

The Golden Bears trailed 54-43 midway through the second half, but they answered with a 8-0 run to bring to the game back to within three. With Concordia trailing 65-60, Brian Jamros hit a three-pointer with 41 seconds left to bring it within two. After one made free throw by Northern State, Kenneth Pointer drove the lane and brought the Bears within one point, their closest margin of the game. The Wolves, however, made their last six free throws to seal the victory.
