Concordia used an explosive first half, outscoring Upper Iowa 46-21 to pace themselves to an 85-51 non-conference win over the visiting Peacocks.
The Bears were led by Kayla Christense, who scored a team-high 16 points on 5-9 shooting, all from behind the arc. Jennifer Pozzani also scored in double figures with 13 points on 5 of 9 shooting. She added five rebounds and three assists. Lindsay Willaims came off the bench and helped out all over the court with nine points, seven assists, and six rebounds. Desirae Jones added seven points to go along with her six assists and three rebounds.
Concordia used a hot first half in which they shot 56.7 % from the field to set the tone for the game. Concordia's defense forced 25 turnovers and held the Peacocks to just 37.3% shooting for the game. The Bears did not allow a single fast break point.
The Golden Bears return to NSIC play this weekend, when they host their travel partner Winona State on Saturday night. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
