Sophomore
Amanda Behnke's 15 points and 15 rebounds were not enough for the Golden Bears to overcome a 25-point second-half deficit with just under 13 minutes remaining, as Concordia University (1-1) fell 72-58 to Minnesota Duluth (2-1) in the Radisson St. Paul Women's Basketball Classic at the Gangelhoff Center in St. Paul, Minn.
The bears, who trailed 52-27 with 12:56 to play, cut the deficit to nine points, 63-54, with 2:19 remaining following a 27-11 scoring run that lasted over 11 minutes.
But the Bulldogs nailed 17 second-half free throws to help seal the game.
Senior guard
Nakia Carlisle led the Golden Bears with 20 points on 6-13 shooting while converting 8-9 at the free throw line. Behnke's 15 points matched her total from yesterday's contest. She finished 3-6 from the field and 9-13 at the line. Behnke was named to the Radisson St. Paul Women's Basketball Classic All-Tournament Team for her efforts over the weekend.
The Golden Bears were shut down by the aggressive Bulldog defense, although UMD was whistled for 27 fouls in the game, sending the Bears to the line 38 times. But the defensive pressure worked, as UMD held Concordia to 30.4% (14-46) from the field and 27.3% (3-11) from three-point territory.
Concordia was outscored in the paint 34-18, and CU only scored seven points off the bench, all from senior

Aside from Carlisle, Behnke, and Ellis, no one converted more than one field goal, and the rest of the team shot just 3-22 (.136).
Minnesota Duluth was led by Lindsey Dietz, who scored a game-high 25 points with nine rebounds, five assists, and five steals. Dietz was 8-17 from the field and 8-9 at the line. She was named the Radisson St. Paul Women's Basketball Classic Most Valuable pPlayer for her efforts, following up a solid performance in which she recorded a double-double against Bemidji State yesterday afternoon.
