Junior Jessica Lucia led four Concordia players with at least 15 kills as the sixth-ranked Golden Bears (17-4) downed Minnesota State 30-22, 30-23, 28-30, 30-22 in four games on Tuesday evening at the Taylor Center in Mankato, Minn.
In addition to her match-high 20 kills, Lucia also had five blocks and seven digs on the defensive side. For the match, she hit .292. With the 20-kill performance, Lucia has now hit the 20-kill milestone six times this season and has had at least 10 in each of Concordia's 21 matches.
Senior setter Cailin Terhaar turned in another All-American performance as she racked up 65 assists to lead a Concordia offense that hit .288. It's the sixth time she has hit the 60-assist barrier this year, and it is her season-high total in a four-game match. She also recorded six digs.
Sophomore Monica McNamara turned in a career high with 18 kills while hitting .297 with six digs, while junior Kelsey Kyro and senior Valerie Olson had 16 and 15 kills, respectively. Kyro hit a team-high .379 and leads the team with a .351 hitting pct. on the season.
Senior Danielle Niehls and junior Ashley Olson led the defensive effort with 17 digs apiece, while junior Megan Graham recorded 14.
The bears face a challenging schedule this weekend when they travel to take on #23 Southwest Minnesota State (17-3, 6-1 NSIC) and Wayne State (18-6, 5-2 NSIC) in a pivotal weekend series that will play a major role in determining the NSIC regular-season champion and the right to host the conference tournament.
