Brian Jamros and Kyle Marxhausen each scored 17 points in Concordia's 76-65 loss to Bemidji State in the NSIC opener for each school. The loss dropped the Bears to 9-4 (0-1 NSIC) on the season.
Jamros, Marxhausen, and Justin Vandenberg each had nine points in the first half, but the Bears trailed 39-31 at the break. The Bears cut the BSU lead to 41-36 at 17:13 of the second half, before the Beavers went on a 21-8 run over the next 9:18 to open a 65-44 lead. The Beavers held a double-digit lead for the remainder of the game. The closest Concordia got in the second half was the 76-65 final of 11 points.
For the game, Concordia shot 25-58 (.431), while the Beavers converted 50 percent of their attempts (29-58) and made 14-23 (.609) of their three-point attempts.
Justin Vandenberg added 13 points and a game-high seven rebounds. RJ Allen had five assists in the game for the Bears.
Concordia will play at Minnesota Crookston at 8:00 on Jan. 8.
