Concordia moved to 9-3 in their last non-conference game, a 92-49 win over Trinity Bible (N.D.), before opening their NSIC schedule.
Four Golden Bears scored in double figures, led by sophomore Kyle Marxhausen's 17 points and seven rebounds. He was also 3-5 from behind the arc and added three steals. Senior Justin Vandenberg was 7-13 from the field and finished with 14 points. Senior Brian Jamros continued his long-distance success, going 3-6 from three and scoring 13 points. Sophomore Andy Stein provided a spark off the bench in scoring a career-high 12 points on 5-6 shooting and also helping with three rebounds and two blocks. Junior Colby Swanson also added nine rebounds off the bench.
Concordia's bench outscored Trinity Bible (N.D.) 42-12 and dominated on the fast break, scoring 20 to the Lions' zero. The Bears shot a blistering 58.3 percent from the field, while the Bears defense held Trinity to 29.0 percent.
The Golden Bears open their NSIC schedule Friday, Jan. 7 at Bemidji State and then travel to Minnesota Crookston on Saturday, Jan. 8. Concordia opens their home NSIC schedule Friday, jan. 14 against Southwest Minnesota State. Tip-off for all games is 8:00 p.m.
