Bears fall to Dragons in Moorhead

No. 15 Concordia-St. Paul (11-5, 3-2 NSIC) had a chance to move into a first-place tie in the Northern Sun standings when they took on MSU Moorhead (14-3, 5-0 NSIC), but they fell short 75-63 and fall two games behind the Dragons, who improve to 5-0 in league play and are in the midst of a five-game winning streak following their win.

The Bears had their worst shooting performance of the season in Moorhead, shooting just 28.3 percent from the field (17-60) and 18.5 percent from behind the arc (5-27) - including a 1-11 second-half three-point shooting effort (9.1 percent).

Three Bears managed to reach double-figures, led by senior Jennifer Pozzani and junior Nakia Carlisle, who each had 13 points, while senior Kayla Christensen netted 12. Pozzani was the only player who shot at least 50 percent from the field, hitting 6-11 shots, while Carlisle was the only other player to shoot at least 40 percent, hitting 3-7. Pozzani also led the squad with six rebounds.

The Bears look to avenge the loss when they take on Northern State (11-6, 3-2 NSIC) Sunday evening in Aberdeen, S.D. The Wolves and Bears are currently in a four-way tie for second place in the standings. Tip-off is 6 p.m.
