#4 Concordia University (14-1, 4-0) extended their winning streak to eight matches in their 3-0 sweep (30-26, 30-28, 30-18) over Wayne State College (9-8, 2-2 NSIC) Saturday afternoon at the Gangelhoff Center. Junior
Valerie Olson led the Bears with 19 kills in 33 total attacks with a hitting percentage of .455.
The Wildcats threatened the Bears' consecutive games streak in each of the first two games of the match, but CSP prevailed 3-0 in games to push the streak to 22 straight games. They have now won seven consecutive matches 3-0. WSC tied game 2 at 27, but the Bears rallied with two straight points to give Concordia a 29-27 edge before winning the game 30-28. In game 3, the Bears hit .480 as a team as they routed the Wildcats 30-18 to finish off the sweep.
Junior setter
Cailin Terhaar recorded 40 assists, while three Bears had double-digit digs. Sophomore
Megan Graham had 12; sophomore
Jessica Lucia had 11; and sophomore
Ashley Olson had 10. Lucia also pitched in with ten kills with seniors
Joy Wubben and
Tia Lindberg adding nine and eight, respectively. Sophomore
Kelsey Kyro was strong upfront with six blocks.
The Bears have a pivotal conference match next weekend, as they travel to Moorhead to face the undefeated #23 MSUM Dragons on Friday for the top spot in the Northern Sun. On Saturday, CSP takes on Northern State on the road in Aberdeen, S.D.
