The Concordia softball team defeated UM Duluth 4-3 in the NSIC Championship Game to earn their second NSIC championship in four years and first NCAA tournament birth. They defeated UM Duluth 6-4 in the semifinal game.
With the score tied 3-3 in the bottom of the sixth inning, Tracie Enzler singled and advanced to second on a sacrifice hit by Amanda Yurek. She scored on a hit by Elizabeth Plante after Kristin Linell advanced her to third on a fly out to right field. The Bears gained a 4-3 lead that they would not relinquish.
UM Duluth scored three runs in the second inning, but Concordia rallied with 3 in the third off of four hits, including triples by Alicia Nortrom and Kristen Schmidt. Schmidt earned her fourth win of the tournament, giving up 3 runs on 6 hits and striking out 9.
In the semifinal game, CU jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning off six singles and held on for a 6-4 win. Kristen Schmidt earned the win, allowing 4 runs on 10 hits and 4 strikeouts.
With the win, the Bears improve to 38-18. They will find out Monday night where they will play in the NCAA Tournament.
Kristin Linell, Kristen Schmidt, and Amanda Yurek were named to the All-Tournament Team.
