Loni Wedemeier's home run to left center field in the bottom of the seventh sent Truman State to the second round of the NCAA North Central Region Tournament with a 1-0 win over Concordia in the second game of the tournament. The Bulldogs will play #2 St. Cloud State Thursday night at 5:30, and the Golden Bears will play #1 Nebraska Omaha Friday at 12:30 p.m. in the first round of the consolation bracket.
Wedemeier's blast, the eighth of the year for her, was just the fourth hit of the game for Truman after Concordia pitcher Kristen Schmidt struck out nine Bulldog batters.
Truman State pitcher Breanna Wonderly allowed only five hits while striking out seven Concordia batters to improve to 12-4 on the season. Concordia stranded 10 baserunners in the game. Schmidt falls to 18-11 with the loss.
