The Concordia Bears defeated St. Scholastica 2-0 at Macalester College in their last regular-season game of the year.
Kristen Schmidt pitched a two-hit shutout with six strikeouts. The Bears got on the board in the second inning when Kristin Linell singled up the middle and Elizabeth Plante hit a triple to right field.
The Bears other run came in the fifth inning when Kelly Schweitz scored on a foul fly ball by Vanessa Dufresne.
With the win, CSP improves to 34-18 and will play Wayne State in the first round of the NSIC tournament on Friday in Moorhead. The Bears also earned their first ranking of the season, as they were ranked tenth in the North Central Region by the softball coaches.
