The Concordia softball team swept a pair of non-conference games at Hamline University, defeating the Pipers 1-0 and 9-1.

The first game remained tied through the first six innings before Kristen Schmidt doubled to center field with two outs in the sixth inning and Tracie Enzler singled past the shortstop to score Schmidt, giving the Bears a 1-0 lead. Schmidt was also the winning pitcher, pitching two scoreless innings and striking out four, improving her record to 13-10. Allison Paitich pitched the first five innings, allowing no runs on three hits and striking out one.

In the second game, the Concordia bats found their rhythm, as CU scored 8 runs in the first two innings on 14 hits. Alicia Nortrom went 3-3, and Elizabeth Plante went 2-3 with 2 doubles while scoring three runs. Mandy Turba earned the win, pitching five solid innings, giving up one run on four hits and striking out three. She is now 5-3 on the season.

Concordia improves to 33-18 and will finish their regular season tomorrow against St. Scholastica. The game will be played at Macalester College in St. Paul.
