The Concordia softball team finished fourth of 16 teams at the MSU Invite after going 3-1 on the weekend. The Bears opened with a 1-0 win over #3 ranked Nebraska Omaha and followed that up with a 8-1 win over North Dakota on Saturday. On Sunday, CU defeated South Dakota 2-0, but CU dropped a 5-1 decision to NDSU in the last game on Sunday.
In the first game, Kristen Schmidt pitched a one hitter with nine strikeouts against Nebraska Omaha. Kristin Linell gave the Bears the only offense they needed with a solo home run in the fifth inning.
In the second game, Linell had a grand slam, and Jennifer Pozzani went 3-4 and scored two runs. Allsion Paitich allowed one run on six hits and struck out two.
On Sunday, the Bears won 2-0 over South Dakota, with Paitich giving up only two hits and allowing no runs. Alicia Nortrom went 2-3 and scored a run, and Tracie Enzler had a RBI and a stolen base.
Against North Dakota State, the Bears managed only four hits, with Pozzani having two of those and scoring Concordia's only run. Schmidt allowed five runs on nine hits and struck out five.
