The #6 ranked Concordia University Golden Bears (23-2, 13-1 NSIC) used a balanced attack to defeat Southwest Minnesota State 78-62 in Marshall, Minn. Four players scored in double-figures Tuesday night, led by Kayla Christensen's 15 points and a team-high 7 rebounds. Carly Christensen added 13. Heidi Gill had 12, and Ashley smith had 10.
Southwest played with the Bears to open the first 10 minutes of the game. With the score 15-13 with 9:57 left in the half, the Bears went on 14-0 run. Concordia forced the Mustangs into six turnovers in the last seven minutes of the half to take a 39-27 lead into the break.
As a team, Concordia shot 43.9 percent from the field and 40.0 percent from behind the arc. The had 15 steals, compared to SMSU's 7.
Concordia will end the regular season this weekend at home, hosting northern state on Friday and MSU Moorhead on Saturday.
