Junior Kenneth Pointer scored a career-high 22 points in leading Concordia to a 81-67 win over North Dakota in Grand Forks, N.D.
The Bears came out strong, taking a 14-point lead early in the game and held a 36-27 lead at the half. North Dakota was able to cut the lead to six in the second half at 56-50 with 9:45 remaining, but the Bears were able to withstand the Soiux run and extend the lead back to 13.
Pointer hit 6-9 from the field, but was an impressive 9-10 from the free-throw line. Senior Justin Vandenberg also scored 21 points and Brian Jamros pitched in 14.
For the game, Concordia hit a season-high 54 percent from the field, making 26-48 and a season-high 82 percent from the free throw line (23-28). Concordia outrebounded the Sioux 32-24 and committed only 10 turnovers in the game.
The Bears improve to 6-1 on the season and will host UW-River Falls on Dec. 18 at 7:00 in the Gangelhoff Center.
