Senior Brian Jamros drained five threes and scored 22 points to lead Concordia-St. Paul to their third straight victory to open the season, as they defeated Minnesota Duluth 80-73 Tuesday night at the Gangelhoff Center.
Jamros ended up 6-9 from the field, 5-7 from three-point range and 5-6 from the line in 25 minutes of play. Sophomore Kyle Marxhausen added 12 points on 4-6 shooting with four rebounds, including a pair of clutch baskets and a steal in the final 1:47 of play to help CSP seal the victory.
Junior Colby Swanson led the rebounding effort, hauling in six rebounds in just 14 minutes of action. Junior Kenneth Pointer scored 10 points on 4-7 shooting while nabbing four steals. Junior RJ Allen dished out a team-high four assists and added five points.
CSP shot a deadly 55.3 percent (26-47) from the field and were 45 percent (9-20) from behind the arc. Minnesota Duluth shot a respectable 46.8 percent (29-62) from the field and matched CSP's three-point numbers, but it was not enough, as the Bears outscored the Bulldogs 19-6 from the charity stripe.
Concordia-St. Paul takes their NSIC-best 3-0 record on the road this Friday, dec. 3 as they take on Upper Iowa at 7:00 p.m.
