Concordia-St. Paul to face Minnesota Duluth in North Central Regional final following sweep of South Dakota

Sixth-ranked, second-seeded Concordia-St. Paul (32-2) hit an unprecedented .473 while holding the second-seeded Coyotes (18-14) to just .066 as they rolled to a three-game victory, 30-20, 30-17, 30-12 Friday night at the Gangelhoff Center on the campus of Concordia-St. Paul in the NCAA North Central Regional semifinals.

The Golden Bears had five players with at least eight kills in a balanced attack, led by Jessica Lucia with 13. Lucia was the only Golden Bear with a double-double as she also added ten digs. Kelsey Kyro added 11 kills and hit a match-high .625 to lead three Golden Bears who hit at least .500. Joy Wubben hit .533 and Lucia hit .500. Cailin Terhaar notched 43 assists and added seven digs for CSP.

South Dakota was led by Lindsey Soukup who had 12 kills and ten digs and hit a team-high .250. Setter Liz Selzer had 24 assists for the Coyotes.

The Bears had 51 kills with just eight errors in 91 total attempts while South Dakota had 32 kills with 25 errors in 106 attacks. Concordia-St. Paul also out-blocked USD 11 to 1 and held a 46-27 advantage in digs.

The NCAA North Central Regional final will pit the top-two seeds in the tournament as no. 1 Minnesota Duluth will defend their top seed against no. 2 Concordia-St. Paul. The two teams have already faced each other twice, both five game matches as Concordia-St. Paul won the first match back in Duluth, Minn. on Oct. 12 while UMD took the second match in St. Paul, Minn. on Nov. 9. It is also a battle of a pair of nationally top-ten ranked squads as UMD is ranked no. 7 and CSP is ranked no. 6.

The regional final is a 7:00 p.m. start at the Gangelhoff Center.
