Ben Weaver joined the CSP football coaching staff prior to the 2017 season as a wide receivers coach.
Weaver had spent the previous eight seasons (2009-16) as wide receivers coach at Shasta College, earning a promotion to pass game coordinator in 2011. He helped 11 wide receivers earn All-Pacific 7 Conference honors for the Knights while helping five advance to Division II programs and three landing in Division I programs. Weaver orchestrated a passing attack that led the state of California in scoring in 2014.
In 2014, Weaver started the EDGE program for all athletes associated with Shasta College athletics. The program focused on assisting student-athletes achieve academic success through the writing and math labs and individual academic tutoring. In the role, Weaver monitored study hall, implemented grade checks and made tutoring recommendations to student-athletes while providing academic feedback to all coaches on campus.
Weaver was a player for the Knights in the 2007 and 2008 seasons prior to starting his coaching career, earning unanimous All-Conference honors as a wide receiver for the Knights' 2008 San Mateo Bulldog Bowl campaign. He led the team in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns that season.
He continued his playing career with the Redding Heat semi-pro team from 2010-12 as he quarterbacked and coordinated the offense of the 2011 Northern Division Championship squad.
He graduated from Simpson College with in 2012 with a BA degree after earning his AA from Shasta College with minors in business and marketing. Ben and his wife, Sarah have a daughter, Julie and son, Barrett.
