Houston Jones was hired as an assistant coach specializing as a passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach in the spring semester of 2016. In addition to his on-field duties, Jones will serve as the program's travel coordinator, manage the equipment room and oversee the team budget.
Jones joined the Golden Bear football staff after spending three seasons with Dakota Wesleyan University where he coached the quarterbacks and wide receivers for the Tigers.
While with Dakota Wesleyan, Jones worked with standout wide receiver Anthony Muilenburg who set the program's single game receiving yards record (251) and was the ninth-ranked receiver in NAIA with 1,002 receiving yards.
He began his coaching career prior to his DWU experience by returning to his hometown after graduation where he coached at Western Heights High School and his alma mater, Northeast Academy.
Jones and his wife, Samantha recently added to their family with their daughter, Parker in the summer of 2017.
