Tom Mauer retired from his full-time position as Assistant Athletic Director / Facility Manager in the summer of 2025 after a 30-year run as a full-time CSP employee. He had joined the softball staff as an assistant coach in 2011, and continues to serve the program in that capacity.
Mauer has been in the athletic department since 1995, as facility manager among other roles. He spent numerous seasons as an assistant baseball coach while taking the interim head coach position for the 1999 season, posting a 13-16 record for the team in their final year known as the Comets before the transition to NCAA Division II membership.
Mauer and his facility staff were responsible for set-up and take-down of all home athletic events at Sea Foam Stadium, Gangelhoff Center and the baseball/softball complex. He also assists with the scheduling of athletic practices, facility maintenance and repair.
He is a 1978 graduate of Harding High School in St. Paul and played baseball and football collegiately at Mankato State University, graduating in 1982.
He is a basketball official, reffing games at the Division I level including multiple seasons as a Big Ten referee, has reffed the Division II championships along with several NCAA regional and NSIC conference tournaments.
