Trench, a native of Scotland, enters his sixth season on the coaching staff for the Golden Bears in 2025. He first joined the CSP soccer program in 2018 and was a member of the 2019 staff that guided the Golden Bears to an NSIC Regular Season Championship and was named the Central Region Coaching Staff of the Year. After a two year hiatus, he returned to the program in 2022.Â
"I'm very grateful for the opportunity to be with CSP as the assistant coach. I have worked with the program in the past and have loved my time working with all of the staff and the players," Trench commented. "The future is bright for the women's soccer program and I'm very excited to get work."
Prior to joining the CSP coaching staff, Trench coached at Division III Hamline University. He successfully led the Pipers to their first and only postseason appearance with numerous records falling in the process.Â
In addition to working for Hamline, he has worked at the club level for Salvo Soccer Club as the girls technician lead and as the college recruitment coordinator. During his tenure, he captured a US Club Super National in 2022 with 2004 Navy, three state championships with the latest coming in 2023 and has guided over 150 players in the college recruiting process. He has also been the head coach for the MYSA Olympic development and TCSL Reps program.
As a player, Trench played collegiate soccer at both Hamline and Anoka-Ramsey Community College. In his sophomore campaign at Anoka-Ramsey, he was a team captain and earned National Championship All-Tournament honors. He also has had stints at Dundee United and Stirling Albion with the Professional Youth Academies.Â
He is a member of the United Soccer Coaches and holds the USSF C license. He is also a member of the Scottish Football Association that includes a coaching players with disabilities license.
