Quinn Berglin was hired as Concordia's assistant coach and recruiting coordinator prior to the 2026-27 academic year and will primarily serve as the program's pitching coach.Â
He comes to Concordia from across town at Hamline University, where he was the pitching coach for the Pipers for the 2025-26 school year, helping Hamline improve its team earned run average by nearly two runs in his lone season with the club, going from 8.10 to 6.07 including an improvement from 8.23 to 3.97 in MIAC play. Further, he helped control the running game, reducing opponent stolen bases from 63 to 35 with wild pitches also decreasing from 35 to 24. The result helped the Pipers double their win total.Â
Berglin was a Division I pitcher at Rutgers University in New Jersey for his final season on the mound in 2025, earning a certificate of labor and employment relations from Rutgers in May 2025.Â
He began his college baseball playing career at Lawrence University at the NCAA Division III level, serving as a team captain in the program and earning a degree in physics. He began his college career as the Newcomer of the Year as hit-first first baseman, and converted to pitching later in his career eventually earning All-Region honors as a sophomore before an All-America senior season landed him at Rutgers for his fifth year, working 40-plus innings at college baseball's highest level, pitching to a 4.11 ERA with 41 strikeouts, three wins and five saves in 22 appearances (four starts).Â
In his final college appearance, Berglin worked 4.1 shutout innings in relief with six strikeouts and three hits allowed in the Big Ten Tournament against Iowa (5/21) and his top appearance of the season was a 5.1 inning, one-hit, one-run relief appearance in a win over Washington (3/30) with seven strikeouts and two walks on 74 pitches. He followed up his outing against the Huskies by working 5.0 innings for the win at Nebraska (4/6), allowing two runs on five hits and a walk on 76 pitches. He earned saves in four of five appearances from April 29 to May 15, closing out wins at UConn (4/29), Illinois (5/2), Penn State (5/11) and at Maryland (5/15).Â
