Joy Tietz joins the Concordia volleyball coaching staff for the 2018 season.

Tietz (formerly Wubben) is a Golden Bear volleyball alum, graduating in 2005 with a degree in early childhood education and parent education from Concordia-St. Paul. During her volleyball career at Concordia, Joy was a three-year captain, a two-time All-American and the 2004 NSIC Player of the Year. She helped the team reach their first even NCAA Division II National Championship game in the 2003 season. Tietz remains the all-time leader in total blocks (540), ranks second in block solos (119) and points (2,073.5) and fifth in kills (1,603) at CSP. Her top single season totals still rank among the school's top-5 in block solos (2nd, 43 in 2002), total blocks (2nd, 169 in 2003), kills per set (3rd, 4.36 in 2004), service aces (3rd, 67 in 2002), among others.
 
Since 2006 she has had a passion for teaching in the classroom and coaching volleyball in many capacities, including 10 years as an assistant at the University of St. Thomas. At St. Thomas, Tietz contributed to the success of the program in all capacities. During her time there, UST won seven MIAC conference championships, made three consecutive trips to the Elite Eight and won one NCAA Division III National Championship in 2012. Tietz has spent the last two seasons as a volunteer assistant with the University of Minnesota, helping the team to back-to-back trips to the NCAA Tournament.
 
Tietz was hired by MN Select Volleyball in September of 2015 as its Associate Director. Her responsibilities include coaching club teams, event schedule creation, assuring all travel logistics, coach support, and directing and coordinating all positional and camp training sessions. 
 
She and her husband, Reed, live in Eden Prairie.
