Summer Fowler joined the Concordia women's lacrosse coaching staff in the summer of 2018. She'll coach the defensive side for the Golden Bears while also assisting in all aspects of the program.
She comes from Guilford College in Greensboro, North Carolina where she gained her first coaching experience as an assistant on the Quakers' staff in 2018 following a successful playing career. In her first season as an assistant, the Quakers finished 6-10 overall, had five players earn IWLCA Zag Sports Academic Honor Roll and the roster was recognized with the IWLCA Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad distinction.
She departed the program ranked second in school history with 105 caused turnovers, sixth with 181 ground balls and 14th with 26 assists. She was a four year starter across 61 games, totaling 28 goals, 26 assists (54 points) and 73 draw controls.
A three-time All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) selection, earning First Team honors as a freshman and sophomore and Third Team honors as a senior captain. She led the league as a junior with 38 caused turnovers despite the season cut short due to injury, which also forced her to miss the 2015 campaign. As a senior, she led the league in ground balls (58) and was third in caused turnovers (28) while producing career-best scoring marks with 18 goals, 19 assists and 37 points.
Off the field, Fowler was a two-time All-ODAC Academic Team selection and recipient of the 2016 Nereus C. English Athletic Leadership Award which is the top athletics honor at Guilford. A consistent Dean's List student and Guilford Student-Athlete Honor Roll performer. She earned the Guilford Leadership Award and was active in intramural sports on campus in soccer and football.
A native of Decatur, Georgia, Fowler earned her degree in criminal justice with a minor in sociology and was a three-sport prep athlete, adding basketball and softball to her background.
