Sophie Kenney enters her second season with Concordia women's basketball coaching staff as a graduate assistant working with the guards for the 2017-18 season.
Kenney was a standout at Augustana University, earning All-NSIC Second Team honors as a senior, also being named to the NSIC All-Tournament Team. She was also a three-time NSIC All-Academic student-athlete at AU where she was a business communications and English double-major.
The Fargo, North Dakota native and Shanley High School graduate averaged 11.5 points and 4.6 assists as a senior, nabbing 40 steals. As a junior and first year starter, Kenney averaged 8.7 points and 3.1 assists with 52 steals.
Her career highlight was ranking third among all Division II players in assist-turnover ratio as a senior (3.02), also finishing 18th in the country in total assists (148).
She saved her top performances for the most important time of the year as a senior, scoring a career-high 31 points in the NSIC Tournament quarterfinals against MSU Moorhead and dishing out nine assists against eighth-ranked Winona State in the NSIC Tournament semifinals and converted 26 consecutive free throws during the conference tournament.
During her career as a Viking, the program produced four 20-plus win campaigns and four winning records in the Northern Sun. Including her medical redshirt season, Augustana was 113-44 overall and 84-36 in the NSIC including a pair of trips to the NCAA Tournament and a Final Four appearance.
