Kachine Alexander

Kachine Alexander joined the Concordia women's basketball coaching staff for the 2012-13 season to work with the guards. She is also involved with recruiting and day-to-day team operations.

Big Ten Standout Player
A standout at the University of Iowa, Alexander was a two-time WBCA and Associated Press All-America honorable mention performer and two-time WBCA All-Region 6 selection. She was a three-time All-Big Ten star and a two-time Big Ten All-Defensive Team pick.

She was the first player in Big Ten women's basketball history to record two triple-doubles in the same season, which she did as a sophomore. She became the first player in Hawkeye history and the fifth in Big Ten history to record 1,000 career points, 800 career rebounds and 300 career assists. She finished her storied career second in school history in double-doubles (34), second in rebounding (910), eighth in assists (339) and 16th in scoring (1,239).

A 5-foot, 9-inch guard, Alexander was the top rebounding guard in the nation as a senior with 9.5 per game. As a junior, she had more rebounds than nine of the 10 players selected to the All-America First Team and more double-doubles than seven All-Americans despite playing in fewer games than most of them.

Local Prep Star
Alexander was a Minnesota Miss Basketball finalist, All-State First Team and Conference Player of the Year for Benilde St. Margaret's.

The Minneapolis native also earned Pioneer Press All-Defensive First Team honors and was a four-time All-Conference performer. She was a McDonald's All-America nominee and recipient of the 2007 Athena Award. A senior team captain, she was named to the Minnesota Girls Basketball Coaches Association All-Star and Inner City All-Star teams.

A 1,000-plus point scorer in her prep career, she netted 32 points (BSM record), 18 rebounds, seven assists and four steals in the same game as a senior. She led the Knights to four conference championships and the MSHSL Class AAA State Championship in 2006 where she was the State Tournament MVP.

She was also a four-year captain of the Minnesota Triple Threat AAU Team and a multi-sport athlete, also lettering in volleyball.

Degree and Pro Background
Alexander graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in recreation management and was a 2011 WNBA 3rd Round Draft Pick by the Minnesota Lynx.

She spent the 2011-12 season playing for the Austria Flying Foxes in Europe where she averaged 12.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 1.7 steals. She led the Flying Foxes to an Austrian Cup title, taking home MVP honors in the process.

She was named Eurobasket.com All-Austrian AWBL Guard of the Year, Import Player of the Year and First Team.
