Deb Hyde joined the Golden Bear women’s assistant coaching staff for the 2012-13 season. She works with the guards, organizes team conditioning and is involved with recruiting.

In Hyde's first two seasons as an assitant, the team captured an NSIC regular season (2012-13) and tournament (2013-14) championship while making two NCAA Tournament appearances including a region championship run to the Elite Eight in 2013-14.

COACHING BACKGROUND
Hyde began her coaching career as a camp coach for JKBC (Janet Karvonen Basketball Camp) during the summer of 1992, where she excelled in teaching fundamentals and building confidence in young players. She was then hired as an exercise physiologist in the Washington DC area. During this time, Hyde coached high achieving executives to accomplish lofty personal goals (running marathons, climbing mountain peaks, preparing for heli skiing, ski racing competitions, etc.). She also spent time working for USA Today in their health/fitness department.

Hyde made the move back to Minnesota in 1997 where she worked as a master trainer at the Decathlon Athletic Club, coached AAU basketball and ran private basketball intensives for aspiring college bound players until her first child was born in 2001.
For the past 11 years, Hyde successfully managed day-to-day office functions for a computer consulting firm and created a specialty retail business, Chalk Notes, from the ground up. She has coached all four of her children’s youth sports teams in the Plymouth and Wayzata community, and serves on the board of Mini-Hops Gymnastics Association.

COLLEGE CAREER
Hyde graduated Summa cum Laude from Wayne State College (Neb.) in 1995 with a bachelor of science degree in exercise science and wellness.  As a student-athlete, Hyde played her first two years of collegiate basketball at Anoka-Ramsey Community College for Dan Mielke. She helped lead her team to a ninth place finish in the NJCAA Division I National Tournament in 1993. Her last two collegiate years were played at Wayne State for Mike Barry.

In her collective four years, Hyde’s teams went 93-14. She finished her career with over 1,200 points, 397 assists and 275 steals. During this time she was the recipient of numerous all-tournament team honors, player of the week awards, all-regional team honors and was consistently voted team MVP by her teammates.
