Katie McKenzie enters her sixth season as an assistant coach with the Golden Bear softball program in 2019 and will work primarily as a hitting coach.

A four-year starter for the Golden Bears (2009-12), McKenzie hit .346 (247-714) while starting 211 of the 212 games she played in. She set the career record for stolen bases with 108 while only being caught five times and has three of the top five single season stolen base totals in team history. She also set team records for career at bats (714) while ranking second in runs (260), hits (247), triples (11), third in total bases (328) and fifth in average.

As a senior, McKenzie had a career year as she hit .357 with eight doubles, three triples, six home runs, 29 RBI and set career-highs in on base (.410) and slugging percentage (.520). In her 212 career games, she committed just six total errors while accumulating 20 outfield assists.

As a Golden Bear, McKenzie was a leader who helped the team to four consecutive winning seasons overall and in NSIC play, reaching two NCAA Tournaments including a Sweet Sixteen and Super Regional run during her senior year.

She was a Daktronics All-Central Region First Team and All-NFCA Central Region Second Team as a senior and a four-time All-NSIC selection (First Team as a senior, three-time Second Team).

McKenzie is married to Golden Bear baseball assistant coach, Marcus McKenzie.
