Rachel Melum joins the Golden Bear coaching staff for the 2017-18 season and will be working with the throwers.
Melum previously worked as a graduate assistant and travel coordinator for the track and field program at South Alabama before coming to CSP. During that time she helped produce three All-Sun Belt Conference throwers and a school record holder in the women's javelin in the 2017 outdoor season. She also assisted the combined events and jumps coach in writing weekly workout plans and conducting technical sessions and conditioning workouts for decathletes, heptathletes, horizontal jumpers, and vertical jumpers.
As a student-athlete, Melum competed in the high jump and javelin at the University of Minnesota. She was a four-year team captain and placed third in the 2015 Big Ten Conference Championships in the javelin.
