Mandy Federici joined the Concordia track & field program for the 2012-13 season as a graduate assistant and throws coach.
She joined the Golden Bears with a National Championship background and familiarity with the Concordia system. Federici competed for the Concordia-Portland (Ore.) track & field team in the hammer, shot put, and discus. There, she was part of the women's national championship team in 2011 coached by Mac Wilkins and James Parker. She was a four-time All-American in the hammer throw.
She graduated from Concordia-Portland in 2012 with a degree in exercise sports science and will work towards a master's in early childhood development with aspirations to pursue a career in special education.
Federici brings prior coaching experience to the Golden Bear staff, spending a year at Mt. Hood Community College working with the throwers. During her time there, she was contracted as a Wounded Warriors Reconditioning Coach for the Marine Corp. from 2010-12 working with disabled athletes in track & field.
Her stop at Mt. Hood CC was her second stop there, as she competed on the track & field team there prior to graduating from Concordia-Portland. At Mt. Hood CC, Federici was a two-year All-American as well as NWAACC champion as a freshman in the hammer throw.
Federici is a native of Portland, Ore. and recently completed her master's degree in early childhood education.
