Chad Welk enters his ninth season with the Golden Bear program where he works with post players and is in charge of strength and conditioning.
Prior to the 2012-13 season, Welk was elevated to Associate Head Coach, recognizing his all-around contributions and responsibility within the basketball program.
Welk is a 2000 graduate of Augustana College, where he earned a degree in fitness management and exercise science. He also holds a master's degree in athletic management from the University of St. Thomas.
While at Augustana, Welk was a two-time All-NCC selection and scored over 1,000 career points in three seasons as a Viking. He was team captain as a junior and senior. Welk spent his freshman year at Southwest Minnesota State before transferring to Augustana. He was a four-year starter.
Welk and his wife, Mitzi, reside in the south suburbs with their son, Owen, and daughter, Abby.
