Kevin Walsh was named the pitching coach for the Golden Bears in the summer of 2019.
Walsh joins the Golden Bears after spending the past three seasons as the pitching coach at the University of Mary. In 2019, Walsh, along with former CSP pitching coach and current UMary head coach Mark Moriarty, guided the team to their best finish since the 2010 season as they tied for ninth in the conference. The pitching staff finished seventh in the NSIC in strikeouts with 338 while also ranking in the top-10 in the league in earned run average and opponent batting average.

Walsh began his college playing career at Gloucester County College and during his time at GCC, he became the closer for the Roadrunners and helped them achieve a second place finish in the NJCAA Division III World Series in 2011. During his sophomore season, Walsh pitched twelve scoreless innings helping the roadrunners amass a 46-3 record. During that season, he pitched the last inning to seal the victory for the Roadrunners in NJCAA Division III World Series in 2013.

The Magnolia, New Jersey native continued his baseball career playing in the Southwestern Athletic Conference at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. During his two-years there, the Golden Lions won back-to-back SWAC Western Conference Division titles in 2014 and 2015. Kevin received first Team All-Conference honors and was named SWAC Relief Pitcher of the Year for the Golden Lions in both 2014 and 2015. During his senior campaign, Kevin appeared in 23 games with a 4-2 record and an ERA of 1.70, striking out 60 hitters in 42 innings of work. Kevin also received national recognition with one of the top K/9 at 11.48.

Walsh was selected in the 21st Round of the 2015 MLB First Year Player Draft by the Philadelphia Phillies. He finished the 2015 season with the GCL Phillies, compiling a 3.55 ERA over 12.2 innings before playing independent ball with the Southern Illinois Miners in the Frontier League in 2016.

As a coach, Walsh became a baseball instructor and AAU coach/pitching coordinator for TEAM COMBAT for Scanzano Sports in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. Kevin has also been Head Coach for the Bismarck Senators, Assistant Coach for both the Bismarck Representatives and the Bismarck Governors, and the pitching coach for the Eden Prairie American Legion Eagles.Â

Kevin received his master's degree in physical education and athletic administration from the University of Mary and resides currently in Maple Grove with his wife, a former women's basketball standout at Winona State University, Kayla Timmerman.
