James Kramer joined the Concordia coaching staff for the 2012-13 academic year as the team's bullpen coach. He works with the catchers, outfielders as well as assisting with hitting and pitching.
No stranger to the Concordia family, Kramer was a Golden Bear from 2004-07 and joins his younger brothers, Jared and Adam in the dugout. Jared joined the coaching staff with James while Adam enters his senior year. The three Kramer brothers are joined in the Concordia pipeline by their sister, Anna, who is now teaching in the family's hometown of Wausau, Wis.
Kramer played catcher and outfield for the Golden Bears, similar to the position that Jared has slotted into currently. As a Golden Bear, Kramer went 13-for-63 at the plate and knocked out a pair of home runs while displaying a solid 15-to-17 BB-to-SO rate at the plate.
He was a member of three-straight Concordia teams that set or tied the school single-season wins record, as the team went 29-12, 29-12-1 and 30-13 from 2005-07 and qualified for the NSIC Tournament.
After graduating from Concordia in the spring of 2007 with a degree in marketing, Kramer has spent the past six years working for the Minnesota Twins as a home clubhouse assistant. In his role with the Twins, he has worked for and learned from the Twins coaching staff as well as many great Twins players.
His full time position is with American Family Insurance at the regional office in Eden Prairie, Minn. James and his wife Kimberly reside in St. Louis Park, Minn. with their son, Jackson "JJ" Kramer.
James continues to play baseball for the
Minnetonka Millers.
