ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Concordia-St. Paul men's and women's track and field teams opened the 2026 outdoor campaign over the weekend, with select athletes competing at a trio of meets across the Midwest. Concordia athletes competed at the Wildcat Classic in Wayne, Neb., the WashU Distance Carnival in St. Louis, Mo., and the CSB/SJU Optimistic Meet in Collegeville, Minn.
At the Wildcat Classic, senior
Carter Krummen broke his personal record in the hammer throw, using a toss of 185' 2" to place fourth. Fellow senior
Cade Feist grabbed a top-five finish in the shot put, placing third with a mark of 52' 10".
Junior
Mehlayna Straub was the top overall finisher for the CSP women in Nebraska, placing fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with a new personal-best time of 14.96 seconds. Sophomore
Bernie Barnhardt placed sixth in the hammer throw after recording a distance of 165' 9".
At the WashU Distance Carnival, senior
Nyadio Chan began her outdoor season with a 19
th-place finish in the 800-meter run after clocking a time of 2:15.81.
Sophomore
Travis Tock was the lone Golden Bear to compete in Collegeville, setting a new personal record in the 10,000-meter with a time of 33:19/35 to finish ninth.
The Golden Bears will continue the outdoor season on Monday with a large group of athletes competing at the Hamline Invite at Klas Field in St. Paul, Minn.
