JAMESTOWN, N.D. - The Concordia-St. Paul women's soccer team (4-0, 1-0 NSIC) earned a 3-1 road victory over the Jimmies of the University of Jamestown in their NSIC opener to stay undefeated on Friday night.
The match up was the first meeting for both programs as NCAA Division II opponents after Jamestown joined the NSIC conference this past July and moved divisions after previously playing NAIA.
Today's win marks the first 4-0 start to a CSP soccer season since 2018 and with a win on Sunday can tie the program record with five.
Three Golden Bears found the net in tonight's win including Nicole Moore, Brooke Nelson and Sophia Haase.
It was a dominant effort from the Navy and Gold who held a 13-5 overall shot advantage including a 8-0 shot advantage in the first.
In the first half, CSP got off three shots before Nicole Moore scored in the 15th-minute to get Concordia on the board first to earn her first collegiate goal.
Just three minutes later Freshman Brooke Nelson found the net unassisted to score her first collegiate goal in just her fourth game for the Navy and Gold. Nelson's goal extended the CSP lead 2-0 and marked the eventual game-winner.
Concordia worked to keep the ball on their side of the pitch before midfielder Sophia Haase scored her third goal of the season in the 31st minute with an assist by Lexi Pettit.
With the Golden Bears up 3-0, the high-willed offense wasn't going away, two more shots riffled off before the end of the half.
In the second half, Jamestown was not going to be silent and made their presence known before scoring their lone goal in the 68th minute. Langley Grow scored for the Jimmies with an assist from Mackenzie Sonntag.
The Navy and Gold doubled down on their pressure and got the victory to end the night.
Leading the CSP defense was Belle Abruzzo and Maddison Balashaitis who each played a full 90-minute outing and held a defense that saw just two shots on goal.
Goalkeeper Sydney Potter earned her third start of the season in net, playing the entirety of the first half before Kayla Matuzak came in at the start of the second. Matuzak made one save to bring her season total to three.
The Golden Bears will return to action and look to stay unbeaten on Sunday against the Wolves of Northern State at the NSU Athletic & Recreation Fields in Aberdeen, S.D. Kick-off will be at 1 p.m.
