Fisher and Colleran’s combined career day leads Golden Bears to victory over Davenport

Duo combined for six goals and 15 saves in victory

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Concordia-St. Paul women's lacrosse team earned their second GLIAC win of the season in a 11-9 victory behind Anna Fisher and Katie Colleran's combined career day over the Panthers of Davenport Sunday afternoon in the Concordia Dome.

Freshman goalkeeper Katie Colleran got her sixth start of the season where she made a career-high 15 saves that earned her a spot at number four on the all-time record of saves made in a single-game.

Senior attack Anna Fisher recorded her third game of the season with six goals scored to mark her fourth career six goal game. Her four six goal games rank fourth all-time for total number of goals scored in a single-game.

Fisher added an assist to her exceptional day to tally seven total points in the victory to total her fourth career game with seven points scored to to rank eighth all-time for total points in a single-game.

It was as back and forth of a battle as you could imagine but it was the Golden Bears that struck first with Fisher's first goal of the day. The senior attack would go on to score all of the Navy and Gold's first half goals.

Less than two minutes later the Panthers responded right back to even the score for the first time of the game.

Fisher's vision was locked in and she would race right back to the goal to put the Golden Bears back on top two minutes later.

Davenport saw the strength they were facing early and capitalized on some quick thinking to score back-to-back goals to earn their first lead of the day 3-2 to end the first quarter.

35 seconds into the second quarter Fisher raced down the field to mark her third goal of the game and even the score once more.

A quick response from the Panthers a minute later gave them back the lead for the second time.

Fisher would score a trio of goals including a last-second buzzer-beater to end the first half 6-4 in the Golden Bears favor.

The Panthers regrouped and came back hot to push Concordia's lead attacker. Two minutes into the third quarter Davenport snuck one in the net to cut down the CSP lead.

Sara Kaiser scored her first goal of the day to regain the two-goal lead for the Golden Bears a minute later.

The two teams would exchange another back and forth scoring effort including goals for the Navy and Gold from Kayleigh Nelson and Morgan Haapala to end the third quarter 9-7 in favor of Concordia.

Susie Monson got the Golden Bears on the board in the fourth quarter to give CSP its largest lead of the day up 10-7.

Davenport responded with a pair of back-to-back goals to try and stay in the game but Kaiser would have the last say and score her second goal of the day to earn the Golden Bears the 11-9 win.

Monsoon added another spectacular performance on the field with her goal and three assists to mark her place on the all-time single season list at number two with 21 assists so far this season.

Kaysawn Carlson led the team in draw controls with five to mark a career-high for the midfielder.

As a team, the Golden Bears forced 16 turnovers from the Panthers and held the draw controls in their favor 15-8.

The Golden Bears will return to action next Saturday when they face the Wildcats of Northern Michigan in the Concordia Dome for a single game weekend. The GLIAC matchup will start at 12 p.m in St. Paul.
