MARYVILLE, Mo. - Concordia-St. Paul (2-4) dropped the series finale 14-4 in eight innings at Northwest Missouri State (6-8) on Saturday afternoon at Bearcat Baseball Field.
Concordia will now turn its attention to the spring trip March 4-9 for the Tucson Invitational Games where CSP will play seven games including a four-game NSIC series against Minot State.
The Golden Bears had a strong start, putting up three runs in the top of the first inning behind RBI singles from
Will Husemann and
Kal Brohmer, with
Trett Joles adding an RBI groundout.
Bennett McCollow started the rally with a base hit, extending his streak of reaching base safely (H, BB, HBP) to 20 games including all six to start the season.
Noah Juliar followed with a hit, extending his reached base streak to 18 games including all six games in 2025.
McCollow went 2-4 with a run, Juliar was 2-2 with a walk, run and an RBI. Brohmer, who has also reached base safely in all six games, went 2-4 with an RBI on the day.
In the bottom of the inning, the Bearcats countered by stealing the lead before CSP was able to record an out, with Kaehukai Young delivering the crushing blow with a grand slam out of the cleanup spot. He finished 2-3 with a double, a pair of walks and a pair of runs to go with his grand slam.
Second batter Ryan Williams also had a strong day, going 2-4 with two walks, a double and four RBIs.
Concordia would only manage one more run, with Juliar picking up a sacrifice fly in hte seventh inning which cut the score to 10-4.
NWMSU scored one more in the seventh and three in the eighth to end the game early.
Korey Dahlberg took the loss for the Golden Bears, working the first two innings.
Gavin Rusch worked four solid frames in relief, allowing two runs on five hits and a walk.
Jaren Guck earned the win for NWMSU, pitching 6.0 innings, allowing three runs on six hits wiht seven strikeouts and a pair of walks.
