Makenna Nold and Mehlayna Straub earn All-Region honors

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Both the American Volleyball Coaches Association and the Division II Conference Commissioners Association released their 2025 All-Region Teams on Wednesday, and Concordia-St. Paul's Makenna Nold was named both the AVCA Central Region Player of the Year and the D2CCA Central Region Player of the Year while Mehlayna Straub was named AVCA All-Region Honorable Mention and D2CCA All-Region Second Team. 

Nold is the sixth Concordia player to be named D2CCA Central Region Player of the Year and the first since Megan Carlson in 2011. 
 
For the AVCA All-Region teams, there are 14 All-Region team members and six honorable mention selections for each of the eight Division II regions. Additionally, a Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year, and Coach of the Year were selected for each region.

The 160 student-athletes who earned All-Region honors represent 85 different schools. Adelphi University and Wingate University lead the way with five All-Region honorees, followed by Bentley University, the University of Tampa, and Wayne State College (NE), who have four players each.

  • Leads the NSIC and ranks 16th in Division II with 4.16 kills per set
  • Ranks ninth in the country in points per set (5.10)
  • Also sits 11th in the NSIC with 0.90 blocks per set
  • Has logged 12 double-doubles and five matches with 20+ kills this season
  • Ranks fourth in points per set in school history for a single season
  • Named both NSIC Offensive Player of the Week (10/6) and Defensive Player of the Week (9/22) this season

#4 Mehlayna Straub (MB, 5-9, Jr., Jordan, Minn. / Southwest Christian HS)
  • 2025 D2CCA All-Region Honorable Mention
  • 2025 D2CCA All-Region Second Team
  • 2025 All-NSIC First Team 
  • Ranks fourth in the NSIC with a .383 hitting percentage in conference play
  • Sits 13th in the conference with 0.82 blocks per set and 19th in the NSIC with 2.89 kills per set 
  • Has reached double figures in kills in 17 matches
  • Matched her career high with eight total blocks in a win over St. Cloud State (11/4)
