SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — The Concordia-St. Paul women's basketball team (7-5, 3-4) closed out the 2025 portion of its schedule with a, 80-69 win over Augustana (4-8, 1-6) in Sioux Falls Saturday afternoon.
A pair of 22 point performances from Leah Dengerud and Lauren Wilson helped propel the Golden Bears past the Vikings. Dengerud's 22 points are a season-high, the senior guard also pulled down 10 rebounds to record her first double-double of the season. The senior was consistent from the floor all game long, going 8-of-10 from the field and 4-of-5 from beyond the arc.
For Wilson it was her fifth 20+ point performance of the season, as the junior forward went 8-of-13 from the field and 6-of-8 at the free throw line. Wilson also grabbed 8 rebounds, while coming away with 4 steals and 2 blocks on defense.
Lydia Haack dropped 16 points in the win, while providing 5 assists and 3 steals. The senior was solid at the charity stripe making 5-of-6 attempts.
Junior center Emma Mommsen scored 6 points, while grabbing 7 boards and providing lock down defense in the paint with 3 blocks.
A total of eight Golden Bears found the score sheet, with Lauren Feddema scoring five off the bench, Avery Moeller provided 4 points of her own. Ashley Schuelke recorded 3 points on the night and Ava Thompson recorded her first bucket of the season for a 2 point night.
As a team CSP was 29-of-60 (48.3%) shooting on the night, going 6-of-17 (35.3%) from three-point range. Augustana was 26-of-63 (41.3%) from the field and 10-of-25 (40%) from beyond the arc.
The Vikings grabbed the first lead of the game, making each of their first four three-point attempts, building a 14-7 lead early. CSP stormed back taking a one point lead on an Emma Mommsen tip-in layup late in the first quarter. Leah Dengerud drove the lane to help Concordia close the opening period with a 24-19 lead.
Concordia steadily built a lead in the second, with Ava Thompson driving the lane and coming away with a tough bucket to open a 10 point lead. Lydia Haack hit from beyond the arc to give the Golden Bears their largest lead of the half, 38-24.
Augie narrowed the CSP lead to just five in the third quarter, before a 15-7 run opened up a double-digit lead once more. As the Golden Bears led by nine entering the final quarter of play.
Dengerud opened the final period with a three-point bucket and CSP never looked back, going on to win by a score of 80-69.
The Golden Bears once again capitalized on turnovers, forcing 19 and turning those into 23 points. CSP had the advantage inside as well, outsourcing the Vikings 42-28 in the paint. On the glass Concordia narrowly out rebounded Augustana 36-35.
The win wraps up 2025 for the Golden Bears, who will have a two week break before heading back on the road to take on Winona State on Saturday, Jan. 3rd. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m.
