ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Concordia-St. Paul women's soccer team (7-1-2, 4-1-2 NSIC) blanked the Dragons of MSU Moorhead 3-0 behind Sophia Haase's two-goal effort on fall Friday night at Sea Foam Stadium.
Junior Sophia Haase was the shining star in tonight's match up with the Dragons, scoring two-goals and tallying a season-high nine shots with five coming on goal.
The Golden Bears scored all three goals in the first half on a dominant effort to hold MSUM to just one shot the entire half and taking seven corner kicks.
Just two minutes into the game, Haase headed the ball from Clare Snapko straight into the back of the net to mark her first and the Navy and Gold's first score of the game.
The Dragons responded a minute later with what would be their lone shot of the night. Goalkeeper Sydney Potter made the save and from here on out, MSUM would never see close to the goal again.
The Golden Bears gained possession and would hold an offensive effort that lasted 10 minutes without crossing midfield. In the 13th-minute Haase would find the net for her second score of the night, assisted by Maddison Balashaitis.
CSP proceeded to tally three shots and take two corner kicks before Snapko riffled her first goal of the season in the net in the 24th-minute to extend the Golden Bears lead 3-0 with just over 20 minutes remaining in the first half of play.
With Concordia still holding possession they would record seven more shots and four more corner kicks to head into halftime.
In the second half, the Golden Bears were on a defensive mission, holding the Dragons scoreless while not allowing a single shot attempt while also seeing their offense show no signs of quit.
18 shots and three more corner kicks in the second half rounded out the Navy and Gold's star-studded night on the pitch to mark a season-high 36 shots, 15 shots on goal and 10 total corner kicks.
Leading the CSP defense was Belle Abruzzo and Clare Snapko who each played over 85% of the match, holding the Dragons to their single shot.
Junior goalkeeper Sydney Potter earned her eighth start of the season in net, making one save to bring her season total to 19 and holding her 15th career shutout.
Brooke Nelson was a mainstay on the midfield for the Golden Bears tallying a season-high five shots of her own including four on goal.
An astonishing 11 players tallied a shot including Haase, Abruzzo, Snapko, Jada Cannady, Lexi Pettit, Lainie Wehmhoff, McKayla Stockness, Nicole Moore, Sienna Latta and Izzy Sipe.
The Golden Bears will look to keep the momentum going on Sunday when they face the Golden Eagles of Minnesota Crookston at 1 p.m. at Sea Foam Stadium.
