Six Golden Bears reach double figures to achieve highest point total of the season in 93-40 win over Minot State

Haack scores a team-high 13 points with eight assists and Mommsen tallies her first career double-double in victory

MINOT, N.D. - Six Golden Bears finished in double digits in No. 22 Concordia-St. Paul's (17-2, 11-2 NSIC) 93-40 victory over Minot State (5-15, 4-9 NSIC) on Friday night. The 93 points were the most in a game this season for the Golden Bears and the 53-point win is the largest margin of victory. 

Lydia Haack led Concordia with 13 points and eight assists in the contest. 10 of her 13 points came in the first half. She created 21 points off of assists, with five of them creating made 3-pointers. This is Haack's ninth game this season with five or more assists. 

Emma Mommsen recorded her first career double-double with 11 points and a career-high 11 rebounds. This performance came off of her scoring a career-high 14 points last week vs. Bemidji State. Mommsen finished the night 5-7 (71.4%) from the field. 

Ashley Schuelke and Mikayla Kanenwisher each scored 12 points. Schuelke made two 3-pointers and grabbed four rebounds. Kanenwisher led the team in steals with four while grabbing a season-high six rebounds and dishing out two assists. 

Lauren Wilson scored 11 points with five rebounds and two steals. Megan Gamble added 10 points with six rebounds and a team-high two blocks. Lindsey Becher finished with eight points shooting 4-4 from the field while grabbing four rebounds and tallying two assists. 

The Golden Bears made a season-high 34 field goals shooting 34-70 (48.6%) from the field. CSP went 11-35 (31.4%) from behind the arc which was the second-most they've made in a game this season behind 12 in the Minnesota Duluth win on Dec. 21, 2024. Concordia only turned the ball over nine times, marking the team's fourth game with less than 10 turnovers. 

Minot State finished 14-52 (26.9%) from the field and the 14 made shots was the lowest CSP has allowed in a game this season. It was also the least amount of shots the Beavers have made in a game this season. 

Minot State's 22 turnovers were the third-highest the Golden Bears have forced this season. This is the fourth time this season the Beavers have turned the ball over 22 times. 

CSP started the game strong with a 13-3 opening lead that featured 3-pointers by Haack, Leah Dengerud and Julia Bengtson. The Golden Bears outscored Minot State 25-11 in the first quarter while Haack led the team with eight points and four assists. Concordia did not turn the ball over in the opening quarter. 

CSP's first turnover came with 2:32 left in the second quarter, but by then Concordia was already up 40-18. Schuelke came alive in the second quarter with eight points and the Golden Bears outscored the Beavers 22-7. Minot State shot 6-26 (23.1%) in the first half including 1-11 (9.1%) from behind the arc to trail 47-18.

Concordia-St. Paul kept it rolling in the second half starting it on a 18-4 run that featured six points from Becher and 3-pointers by Haack and Gamble. The Golden Bears outscored the Beavers 27-13 to lead 74-31 after three quarters. 

In the final quarter, Kanenwisher scored seven points, Mommsen scored five points and Ella Campbell added four points. The Golden Bears held Minot State to 3-15 (20%) from the field in the final quarter to outscore the Beavers 19-9 and secure the victory. 

Campbell's four points marked a career-high for the sophomore guard. She also grabbed a steal. Dengerud and Bengtson each finished with five points. Lauren Feddema got on the scoreboard with two points. Kierstin Kriewaldt grabbed a career-high three rebounds, dished out an assist and blocked a shot. 

The Beavers were led by Taury Hight off the bench with nine points and two steals. Jessica Mogen scored eight points while grabbing a team-high five rebounds. Emma Mogen and Taylor Goss each scored five points. 

CSP outrebounded Minot State 48-35, the fourth-most rebounds in a game this season for the Golden Bears. Concordia had 20 assists compared to three for Minot. CSP's bench outscored Minot 52-18. The Golden Bears outscored the Beavers 42-16 in the paint, 28-4 off of turnovers, 23-3 on second-chance points and 20-7 on fast breaks.

The Golden Bears remain tied in second place with No. 23 Southwest Minnesota State (17-2, 11-2 NSIC) in the conference standings. No. 6 Minnesota State (17-3, 13-1 NSIC) was upset by Northern State (12-7, 9-4 NSIC) to drop its first game of the season in conference play. The Mavericks are now one game ahead of CSP and SMSU in the conference race. 

Concordia-St. Paul is back in action on Saturday in Bismarck, North Dakota vs. UMary (10-7, 7-6 NSIC). Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. The Marauders defeated Minnesota Duluth 71-59 on Friday night.
