Golden Bears headed to UW-Platteville and Minnesota State this week

CSP set to compete on Friday and Saturday

ST. PAUL, Minn. – For the third consecutive week to start the outdoor season, the Concordia-St. Paul track and field teams will be competing in two different meets as they travel to the UW-Platteville Invitational on Friday and the Minnesota State Open on Saturday.
 
UW-PLATTEVILLE INVITATIONAL MEET INFORMATION
A group of CSP's distance runners will kick off the weekend on Friday night as they travel to UW-Platteville for the 5000m. The first heat of the event will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the last heat getting underway at 8:50 p.m. at the Track and Field Complex.
 
MINNESOTA STATE OPEN MEET INFORMATION
The rest of the squad will head south to Mankato to compete at the Mark Schuck Outdoor Track and Field Complex on Saturday. Field events are scheduled to start at 12 p.m. while running events get off to a rolling start at 2 p.m.
 
LAST TIME OUT
On a day that featured a combined 43 top-10 finishes at the Hamline Invitational and Viking Olympics for the Concordia-St. Paul track and field team on Saturday, Drake Daniels provided a major highlight as he broke the school record in the 110m.
 
Daniels, who broke the 60m hurdles record in the indoor season, added a second school record as he took second in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.80 seconds at the Hamline Invitational. His mark edged Zach Pederson's 2013 record of 14.82 by 0.02 seconds.
 
He collected one of 17 top-five results at the meet as they picked up four wins up the road at Hamline. Three of those four wins came in relays as Cadence TannerChidera OsuohaKarlina Zimmerman and Destiny Mattingly won the 4x100m relay with a time of 49.33 seconds while Mattingly, Zimmerman, Arika Harbo and Jaid Perry's time of 3:57.30 was good for first in the 4x400m relay. Thomas DietelTarnue David, Ashton Brown and Priestly Jibunor took first in the 4x100m relay with a time of 41.16 seconds on the men's side.
 
Cadence Tanner picked up the lone individual win at the meet in the high jump as she cleared 5' 1.75". Samara Jones followed in second with a height of 4' 11.75".
 
LAST TRIP TO MINNESOTA STATE
Back on May 6, 2023, CSP compiled 15 top-five finishes and 25 finishes inside the top-10 at the Maverick Open #2.
 
The men's squad collected 14 top-10 finishes, including 10 in the top-five, as Eben Mundfrom picked up the lone win for the team. Mundfrom's mark of 184' 8" in the hammer earned him the top spot in the event.
 
His win was one of five top-five results in throwing events for the men as CJ Picazo grabbed two while Cullen Feist and Dan Otto added one apiece. Picazo cleared 159' 1" in the discus to take third while his distance of 49' 3.5" was good for fourth in the shot put. Feist took fourth in the javelin while Otto followed Picazo in the discus with a fifth-place finish.
 
On the track, Tarnue David picked up a pair of strong results as he wrapped up the 100m in 10.84 seconds to take fourth and finished the 200m in 21.97 to take fifth.
 
The women claimed 11 top-10 finishes of their own with five in the top-five.
 
Ella Paaverud picked up both of the team's best results in field events as she took third in the hammer with a distance of 162' 11" and fifth in the high jump with a height of 5' 5".
 
Lauryn Samuel was the top finisher on the track as she finished the 200m with a time of 25.33 seconds.
