BEMIDJI, Minn. - The Concordia- St. Paul soccer team (11-3-3, 9-3-1 NSIC) downs the Beavers of Bemidji State (8-6-3, 6-4-3 NSIC) 2-1 on a windy Sunday at Chet Anderson Stadium in a game known as Battle of "Priam the Pig."

Today's game marks the sixth straight win in a row for the Golden Bears.

Following the win, head coach Steve Bellis stated, "Today was a great game versus a strong and well coached Bemidji side."

Bellis added, "The first half we really played our best soccer, created enough chances to be in front and had to battle hard in the second half to grab the win. We are excited to bring home the points and of course the pig!"

The Navy and Gold picked up right where they left off and dominated the first half outshooting the Beavers 15-1 and holding a 2-0 corner kick advantage.

At the 41st minute, Lexi Pettit scored her first goal as a Golden Bear off an assist from Ashley Bennett to put CSP up 1-0.

Just three minutes later Sydney Manthana found the net to score her fourth goal of the season. She was assisted on the goal by Brittany Bordson and Jada Cannady to add to the Golden Bear lead.

In the second half, BSU showed a surge in their offense scoring at the 55th minute by Katrina Barthelt to bring the game within one.

The Golden Bears defense stepped-up to the challenge and locked down Bemidji allowing just two shots after the Beavers goal.

CSP just edged out Bemidji for a 6-5 shot advantage and held a 3-1 corner kick advantage in the second half.

Manthana led the Golden Bear offense with four shots on the day with McKayla Stockness and Sophia Haase each having three.

On the defensive side of the pitch Belle Abruzzo played her team-leading 14th full 90-minute outing of the season while anchoring a defense that allowed just three shots on goal.

Goalkeeper Sydney Potter made her 12th start of the season in the net, recording two shots to bring her season total to 35.
