Women finish ninth, men 10th at NSIC Outdoor Championships

Women's squad collects 33 points while men claim 31

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Concordia-St. Paul track and field teams wrapped up the 2023 NSIC Outdoor Championships on Saturday as the women finished ninth and the men finished 10th in the three-day competition.

The women finished with 33 points, putting them 5.5 points behind Northern State in eighth and 7.8 points ahead of MSU Moorhead in 10th in the meet. The grabbed 31 points, putting them 10 behind Minot State in ninth and 15.5 in front of SMSU in 11th.

The men's squad had their best day of the weekend on the final day as they scored 19 of their 31 points on Saturday. 

CSP scored in double digits in the throws as Dan Otto and CJ Picazo took fifth and sixth, respectively, in the discus while Cullen Feist added a fifth-place result of his own in the javelin. Otto's mark of 152' 5" edged Picazo's 151' 9" while Feist cleared 156' 3".

Tarnue David and Emmett Faltesek both scored on the track as David took sixth in the 100m with a time of 10.83 seconds and Faltesek took eighth in the 800m with a time of 1:55.25.

The 4x100m relay team of Tarnue David, James Howard, Jackson Klocow and Nate Segura took sixth, finishing in 42.62 seconds, while James Howard, Tarnue David, Payton Peterson and Taaron Rudzitis combined for time a time of 3:23.77 in the 4x400m relay to finish eighth.

Sydney Jackson was the lone individual point scorer on the women's side on day three as her finish of 57.52 earned her sixth place and three points in the 400m.

Jackson also played a part in both relay races as she joined up with Arika Harbo, Destiny Mattingly and Lauryn Samuel to take sixth in the 4x100m relay with a time of 48.01 seconds before combining with Jaid Perry, Karlina Zimmerman and Michaella Hartinger for a time of 4:01.90 to take eighth in the 4x400m relay.

The conclusion of the outdoor season will take place on May 25-27 in Pueblo, Colo. at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
