SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -Concordia-St. Paul baseball (16-24,12-14 NSIC) fell in the series finale, 9-3, to the Augustana Vikings (38-16, 26-7 NSIC) on Sunday afternoon at Ronken Field.
The Golden Bears will return to action at home on Tuesday for Senior Day to face the Sioux Falls Cougars at Bob Barnes Field. First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. with game two following afterwards.
The Vikings were able to control the game throughout the contest, as they jumped out to an early 6-0 lead before the Golden Bears found the score column with a trio of runs in the sixth. However, Augustana was able to match the three runs in the next half innings to secure the 9-3 victory.
Concordia was able to notch eight hits in the contest.

Jaden Werner and
Mason Wolf each had multi-hit games at the plate after going 2-4 in the afternoon, while Werner and
Noah Juliar each added home runs.
The pitching staff was busy as six pitchers saw the mound in the finale. Sophomore
Reece Piontek (1-3) made his fifth start of the season and totaled four strikeouts in 4.0 innings. Freshman
Jack Nicklaus provided a solid outing on the bump with four strikeouts in 1.2 innings.
Augustana jumped out to a six run lead with a pair of runs in the third and fifth innings, and a run in the fourth. The Vikings used good base running to snatch eight stolen bases throughout the contest, while adding 10 hits and only one error.
The sixth inning was the best for the Golden Bears, as they were able to cut the Augustana in half with a trio of runs. Brohmer kicked off the inning with a single through the left side before Juliar added his sixth home run of the season to left field. In the very next at-bat, Werner hit his second home run of the season to the same location, making the score 6-3.
However, the Vikings responded with three runs of their own in the next half inning that was highlighted by a two-RBI single and held Concordia scoreless for the remainder of the game to secure the 9-3 victory.
