CSP baseball is set to face Minot State in Wisconsin

Action begins with a double on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Woodside Sports Complex

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Due to weather, the Concordia-St. Paul baseball (9-12, 5-3 NSIC) weekend series against the Minot Beavers (15-7, 6-4 NSIC) has been moved to the Woodside Sports Complex in Mauston, Wisconsin. 
 
First pitch for the Sunday doubleheader is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. with game two following shortly afterward. Action will conclude on Monday with the final game of the series at noon.

LAST TIME OUT
The Golden Bears dropped their first NSIC series of the season to the Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagles last Saturday and Sunday at Westside High School in Omaha, Neb.
 
The Golden Bears' five-game winning streak came to an end after dropping the first of three games between the two NSIC schools, as the Golden Eagles used 14 hits to plate 12 runs. UMC was also able to work seven scoreless innings, limiting Concordia to just two hits.
 
The Golden Bears struggled to find their offense in game one of the doubleheader as they were shut out for the second straight game against the Golden Eagles. After the two teams held each other scoreless in the opening two innings of play, the Golden Eagles struck first with a trio of runs in the third inning. They added their final two runs in the fifth to secure the 5-0 victory.
 
UMC claimed the series sweep with a 10-0 win in game two of the doubleheader. Concordia found themselves behind early in game two as the Golden Eagles posted three runs in the first inning, which was followed by five runs in the fourth and two runs in the fifth to claim the 10-0 win in seven innings.
 
SERIES HISTORY AGAINST BSU
The Golden Bears and Beavers have met 19 times dating back to April 12, 2014, with the Beaver' 10-9 all-time advantage. CSP claimed the first four games between the two schools with a 5-2 victory in the inaugural game in Minot, while the Beavers' have claimed the last two matchups last year in River Falls, Wis. CSP has scored 83 runs with an average of 4.37 a game in the series.
 
ABOUT THE BEAVERS
Minot State posted an 28-23 (20-12 NSIC) record in the 2022 campaign and was picked to finish tied for fourth in the NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll with 128 points.
 
The Golden Eagles currently hold a record of 15-7 (6-4 NSIC) this season. BSU is coming off a split series with the Winona State Warriors last Tuesday after falling in game one 4-8 before claiming the game two thriller, 9-8. Prior to the matchup with the Warriors the Beavers dropped their first NSIC series of the season to the Minnesota State Mavericks, 2-1, in Wayne, Nebraska.
 
Four of the Beavers' losses have come by three runs or less. Their largest loss of the season came against Minnesota State, 5-15, while their largest margin of victory was 15 runs against regional opponent Newman University in Wichita, Kansas.
 
The player to watch for the Beavers' is Mark Ossannat. The junior catcher has posted a batting average of .415 with 34 hits that includes nine homers and five doubles, while driving in 24 runners and successfully stealing nine bases in 10 attempts.
 
The pitcher to watch for BSU is right-handed pitcher Trevyn Badger (2-0). The junior has posted an earned run average of 3.09 in 23.1 innings pitched with 28 strikeouts and seven walks. He has allowed 14 hits and eight runs so far this season.
